In the NFL teams can have 53 active players on the roster
Division 1
Whereas The number of players allowed on a Division 1 football team roster can vary slightly depending on the conference and specific regulations set by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). However, generally speaking, Division 1 football teams are allowed to have up to 85 players on their roster. This includes scholarship athletes, walk-ons, and other players who are part of the team.
